Setups

Setup Comparer LMU

Load two Le Mans Ultimate setup files for the same car and see every setting side by side, grouped like the in-game garage, with the differences highlighted and how many clicks each one moved. Your files are read in your browser – nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share them with your team.

Your setups

Setup A
Setup B

LMU keeps setups as .svm files, usually in \steamapps\common\Le Mans Ultimate\UserData\player\Settings\ with one folder per track. Both setups must be for the same car (different seasons are fine).

Fuel and Virtual Energy estimates

LMU saves its own estimate of how many laps the fuel and Virtual Energy last, worked out for the track the setup was saved at. Treat it as a guide – your laps depend on how you drive.

How to use it

  • Load two setups – drop the .svm files on Setup A and Setup B, or click each box to choose a file. One file on its own works too, as a quick way to read a setup outside the game.
  • Tabs follow the LMU garage: Powertrain, Wheels & Brakes, Suspension, Dampers and Chassis & Aero. The number on each tab is how many settings differ.
  • Clicks show how far a setting moved from A to B in the game's own steps – handy when you copy a change across in the garage.
  • Left and right are shown once when both sides match, and settings that can't be adjusted on this car are hidden.

Good to know

  • Your files stay on your computer unless you share them. They're read by your browser; a team share link (sign in with Steam) saves just those setups, privately, until it expires or you delete it.
  • Same car only. Setups for a different car are refused. The same car from another season is allowed, but BoP and some ranges may differ.
  • Tyre wear in the file (for example “99% Medium”) is shown under the compound, but only the compound is compared.
  • Lap estimates for fuel and VE are LMU's own, saved with the setup – they can be a little different from what the garage shows on another track or patch.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compare two Le Mans Ultimate setups?

Load one .svm setup file into Setup A and another for the same car into Setup B. Every setting is shown side by side, grouped like the LMU garage tabs, with the ones that differ highlighted and how many clicks each moved from A to B.

Where does Le Mans Ultimate save setups?

LMU saves setups as .svm files, usually in the Le Mans Ultimate\UserData\player\Settings folder inside your Steam library, with a folder for each track.

Are my setup files uploaded?

Not when you compare them: the files are read by your browser and never leave your computer. If you sign in with Steam and create a team share link, those setups are saved privately so anyone with the link can open them, until the link expires or you delete it. If you send the fuel and Virtual Energy estimates, only those figures, the car and the track are sent.

Can I compare setups for different cars?

No - both setups must be for the same car, because the settings and their ranges are different for every car. The same car from a different season (for example WEC 2025 and WEC 2026) is allowed, with a warning that BoP and some ranges may have changed.

What does the number of clicks mean?

Each setting in LMU moves in steps, the same steps as the arrows in the garage. The comparer shows how many steps a setting moved from Setup A to Setup B, so you can make the same change in the game by clicking that many times.

How do I share setups with my team?

Sign in with Steam, load the setups and press Create share link. Send the link to your drivers: they can see the comparison and download each setup without signing in. The link isn't listed anywhere, you choose how long it lasts, and you can delete it at any time from Your share links.

Why are the fuel and Virtual Energy laps different from the game?

The lap estimates are LMU's own, saved in the setup file for the track it was saved at. On another track, after a patch or a BoP change, the garage can show a slightly different figure. Use them as a guide and check your real usage in practice.
